When we know better, we can do better.

Social Worker or Special Educator?

I have been teaching students with social/emotional and behavioral challenges for 20 years across the country, where I discovered out-of-the-box strategies to break through to some of the most misunderstood and reluctant learners. I have a way of quickly connecting, building trust and confidence, seeing strengths in others, and learning how children think/learn so they can shine. I understand the human tendency to develop sometimes maladaptive coping strategies to mask trauma, fear of failing, differences, mental challenges, and weaknesses, but believe it’s an educator’s greatest gift to unlock that underlying potential. By removing barriers, adding supports, and skill building we can change trajectories. I am passionate about helping teachers and administrators cultivate this gift.

Let’s get creative.

Sarah doesn’t just support schools.

Kids and teachers aren’t the only ones who are struggling. Those in helping industries such as Social Services are finding difficulty in staff managing stress, compassion fatigue, separating work/home life, burn out, and its impact their performance. Those in Public Service industries are finding they serve such a wide population, but do not have the training in things like mental health, trauma informed impacts/interactions, and proactive ways to prevent escalation and de-escalate. Corporate businesses are too finding their staff struggling with managing stress, understanding the diverse needs of the public, and ways to build resilience in their teams.

Organizations Sarah has worked with: Waypoint, CASA NH, Public Libraries, City Offices, Recreational Offices, etc.

While there is no “one size fits all” approach to helping children with behavioral health challenges, I am passionate about challenging and supporting school staff to look for new ways to prevent and effectively respond to behavioral challenges. I am available to educate/coach about adversity, neuroscience, build teacher’s toolboxes at tiered levels, and strategic implementation of best practices to yield staff growth and student success. I offer consultation, professional training, coaching as well as present at education and leadership conferences around the country.

THIS is what learning and growing looks like…collaborating, connecting, sharing, questioning, witnessing, and digging deeper.
